A fellow SV rider I know is making lightweight batteries for use in track (and street bikes). These batteries are very light and small but put out a lot of juice. His 8 Cell battery for instance puts out 240 CCA but only weighs 1.6 pounds!. You can order them in various configurations (number of cells) to fit your needs. Go ahead and look online for other lightweight batteries and then look at his pricing and power ratings. These are a steal! Below is the info from Maviryk on the specs and how to order.

FAQ:
What's the difference between the Dewalt A123 cells and the green heatshrinked A123 cells? - Less than 2% in performance aside from the cardboard/heatshrink covering. The Dewalt cells were manufactured in 2007 whereas the green cells were made in 2009. Otherwise, the specs and dimensions are identical. All A123 cells come from the same factory in China. Do I need to charge these batteries when I get them? What if I wait a while before installing it? - No. I send out every battery charged to more than 95% capacity. It should start up your bike even if you don't take it out of the box for six months or more. How do I charge these batteries? - I offer affordable 6A chargers. How do I store these batteries? - Unplug from the bike, store at room temperature. Can I use a trickle charger on these batteries? - Only if the trickle charger is capable of putting out more than 3A. Do I need to worry about balancing the cells? - No. These cells are self balancing when used with a properly operating 12v charging system. Will these batteries work with my alarm system? - It depends on the draw of your alarm. Typically the 8cell units have half the capacity of a normal lead acid battery. Will it start my bike up in the cold (below 50F)? - It depends on which battery you have, but generally these cells do not like cold weather initially. The maximum attempts you should try to start your bike is 6. If it doesn't start your bike after holding the starter button down for 2 secs, wait, then retry after 30 secs. As the electricity flows through the individual cells, they will warm up to temp and regain their full strength. Are these batteries safe? I've heard of lithium cell exploding. - Yes these batteries are safe. They are a step up from Lithium Ion and Lithium Phosphate and will NOT explode due to abuse or misuse. |
