Ducati to Pull Factory Team From World Superbike PDF Print E-mail

ducati_corse_logo From 2011 onwards, Ducati will no longer compete with a factory team in the Superbike World Championship, and has decided to limit its participation to the supply of machines and support to private teams. The Italian manufacturer has participated with a factory team in every edition of the World Superbike Championship since it began in 1988, winning 16 Manufacturers' world titles and 13 Riders' world titles along the way.

This decision is part of a specific strategy made by Ducati, the aim being to further increase technological content in production models that will arrive on the market in the coming years.

Sure it says from 2011 onwards but I have a feeling we will see them back in WSBK sooner or later.

Where the money is going, is back into the till. Every motorcycle manufacturer has had to scale back the past couple of years, with sales tanked courtesy of the economy. Ducati's current corporate owners (you need a freaking program to keep track of who is holding it this year!) likely pulled the plug.

if the money really goes where they say it is than this could be good, but Ive been routing for Ducati in WSBK since i started watching it so this is a sad end of an era for me
