peabody Well 2011 is here, so before we jump into the new year, let's take a look back at 2010. Why a look back? It's an easy way for me to create new content by using old content. What could be lazier?!! Plus, having a look at what worked well (and what didn't) helps me to improve the site and make it more of what our readers want.

Let's take a look at what was some of the most popular articles as well as the some of the most neglected. I'm also going to point out my personal favorites from the past year in the form of articles as well as some of the top comments made on our content. So if you're ready, if you can handle the excitement and pressure, go ahead and click on the read more link to begin your journey into last year.

Most Popluar Articles of the Year

041410_0003 The most popular article on Nashvilleriders.com last year was our review of the Shark S900 helmet by a huge margin. This review received 1329 unique visits in 2010 and outpaced the next closest bit of content by nearly 1000 views. I have to say we performed a bit of a coup with this review by being the first site to offer a professional (yes, professional) review of one of these helmets on the web. For several weeks if you "Googled" Shark S900 we were the first result! Sadly though we're now only on the second page of results, but that's still pretty good for our first year. Click here for the full review.

fatcat The next most popular article was not even much of an article. It was a "Spotted on Craigslist" blurb about a 200cc Honda Fatcat! Seriously! I don't get what the deal was with this particular bike so all I can say is.. What's wrong with you people!  :). You can view the blurb here but of course the original ad and the image are no longer around. (I believe the reason this article is so popular is because it shows up pretty high on Google's search results when you search for Honda Fatcat)

TheTrace-_0023 Next up behind the Fatcat is my ride report on the Natchez Trace Parkway. This review/ride report was one of the first articles I wrote for Nashvilleriders.com and was published to the site back before our official "launch" on January 16th of 2010. Looking back at this article now reminds me I have several more ride reports to put together for 2011 including more on the NTP beyond those first 15 miles.

Least Popular Article

spyder Turns out our least popular article for 2010 was the announcement that there would be demo rides for the Can Am Spyder at LP Field. Seems no one here was interested in seeing what it would be like to ride a Sea-Doo on the street. I'm sure there are people who love these machines but they just don't make any sense to me at this point in my life and apparently I'm not alone. Congrats to Can Am for being the top of the bottom here on Nashvilleriders.com for 2010!

Editor's Favorite Articles

the-group

Operation: Re-Cooper-ate is a great story that shows the best part of being involved with a great group of riders. Johnny's son Cooper was injured and had to be in a back brace for quite a while (he's out of it now by the way) and in a great gesture of support, a good number of Nashvilleriders.com members all took a ride together to Orlinda to visit with Cooper and wish him a speedy recovery.

Dirt-Devil05311007 The Tennessee Dirt Devil - My First Dual Sport Ride has to easily be my favorite article of the year both for the fun of the experience and the pleasure of being able to share that experience with our readers. I did tend to ramble quite a bit (the article is rather lengthy) but there was so much to tell it was hard to find a stopping point.

moped Last, and ok least, was Crazy Uncle Johnny's My First Bike article. The story of a boy and his first two-wheeled love. Read and enjoy as your are swept back to a simpler time, when an moped could excite a young man that special way (umm, not that special way please!!). Along the way you'll meet a barber, a bartender, and a barfly! Get ready for the ride of your.. oh heck, stop the music!! Just click here of you want to read it :).

The Year's Top Comments

My personal favorite, which is somewhat of an inside joke, was a comment from Kevin on the 2011 ZX-10R on Hold Explained article. The comment simply reads "I hate turtles"

In the shameless self promotion department comes this comment by davebraham lincoln about the Natchez Trace Parkway article. "i just have to say that this site is awesome and the rode review on Natchez trace is amazing! I'm new to the area and was on this road in a car a week ago and told myself it would be one of the first places i want to ride! very very good man!"

And finally, this follow-up comment by Crazy Uncle Johnny on the heels of one of Marc's comments on the First Bike Recommendations article "Is there an eye rolling emoticon? Marc's list: 1. Honda Spree 50 2. Pagsta Pocket Rocket 3. any huffy with a "Wizzer" motor 4. Black & Decker 18v cordless tiller". We do give Marc a hard time here on occasion in the forums but it's all in good fun :)

That's all I've got for today but if you have a favorite bit of content from out site form the past year post up your comment here (with a link if you can) and let us know what you liked about it. In the meantime I'll get back to putting up some current news & such for 2011. Hope everyone had an excellent New Year's celebration and that 2011 will be a great year for all of us!

I think the best thing I got out of Nashville Riders last year was "Let's go ride!"

This past year, with thousands of miles of great riding, meeting great new friends the whole time, has been the most fun I've had with the motorcycle that I can remember.

Thanks for making this possible, Brandon. You're all right, I don't care what Johnny says about you.

Here's to more of the same for 2011!
